Website overview

What is this about?

This website documents my visit to the Etowah Indian Mounds and what I learned from being at the site. I share my observations and photographs from the trip. I also reflect on how the experience connects to our class. Learning local Native history helps us understand the places where we live today. It also shows why those places deserve our respect.

Why I chose this place

My name is Jeff Player. I am a senior at Kennesaw State University majoring in Technical Communication. I have lived in the Fulton and Cobb County area my entire life. Recently, I have become more interested in learning about the Native American people who once lived on the land where I now live.

I decided to visit the Etowah Indian Mounds because they looked interesting and different from the sites we discussed in class. I wanted to compare what I saw there with what I had already learned about other historic Native American sites. I also wanted to better understand the history connected to this region.

Why I recommend visiting

I live only about 30 minutes away. Admission was around $5 when I visited. If you live nearby and are interested, I recommend giving it a try. The trip was easy to plan and affordable. Most importantly, it was a really cool experience.
